The Hyperion Bank Community Chest Fund is proud to announce a $1,000 Grant has been awarded to the Portside Arts Center, 2531 E. Lehigh Avenue in Philadelphia. The Grant, requested by Portside will help fund their Student Scholarship Fund.

Kim Creighton, President & CEO of Portside said, "This Grant will help children, teens and adults of limited resources to participate in art or music classes at the Center. Our local families see the importance of arts education but could not otherwise afford it."

According to Suzanne Salsbury-Mooney, President & CEO of the Community Chest Fund, "Portside Arts Center services families in our community in need and in doing helps to bring our community closer together. And that's what the Community Chest is all about � uniting community."

Opened in 2008, Portside Arts Center is a non-profit 501(c) 3, community based, education arts center on the border of the Fishtown and Port Richmond neighborhoods. With local schools providing limited or no visual arts programs and small or no after-school programs, Portside strives to fill the void offering over 60 different music, visual and performing arts classes to neighborhood families. Their annual Lehigh Avenue Arts Festival in their biggest scholarship fundraising event.
