HYPERION BANK COMMUNITY CHEST FUND SUPPORTS SPANISH LANGUAGE PROGRAM AT KEARNY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

The Hyperion Bank Community Chest Fund is proud to announce a $2,000 Grant has been awarded to the General Philip Kearny School, 6th & Fairmount in the City's Northern Liberties neighborhood. The Grant, requested by the School and its Home & School Association will help fund their Spanish language program for kindergarten through third grade, across eleven classrooms for the 2011/2012 school year.

With a strong school-parent community partnership, the Home and School Association took on the goal last year of Spanish language instruction for students beginning with the early grades where developmentally the children are best prepared to receive and maximize the instruction. Since the public school system does not support this type of program at the elementary level, private funding was necessary.

Presenting the Grant on behalf of the Hyperion Bank Community Chest Fund, Suzanne Salsbury-Mooney, President and CEO of the Fund stated, "We are delighted to partner with the parents, students and faculty of the Kearny School. This Grant fits perfectly with the goals of the Community Chest Fund in supporting educational programs within our neighborhood schools".

Established by Hyperion Bank in 2009, the Hyperion Bank Community Chest Fund is a non-profit Pennsylvania 501 (c) (3) Corporation which endeavors to support projects that improve our local community for the benefit of its residents and provide educational materials and program support for neighborhood schools and educational programs offered by local groups within the Bank's service area (defined as Fishtown, Old Kensington and Northern Liberties). The Community Chest Fund accepts tax deductible donations throughout the year.
